Science and God

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Psalm 100:3

I write this blogpost as a woman of Christian faith. My hope is that the words penned here are food for thought for all people.

I believe there is only one Creator of all life and that is Jehovah God. He gives us minds to use, but God intends that our creative efforts be within the context of a partnership with Him. Our creations are to be the result of the knowledge and guidance of God. They are not to be solely for material gain and power, but they are to make the world better, safer, healthier.

It seems the very definition of science today now excludes any belief in or relevance of God. That leaves it wide open to evil influences. When we create under unethical plans, (even seemingly unintentional), we sow the seeds of our own destruction.

It is a godless science that leads us to poison our food with chemicals, genetically alters fruits and vegetables into synthetic food that can sit on the shelf for weeks without rotting, that manipulates plants so that they cannot produce seeds of their own that will germinate, that clones animals, while convincing us that there are no consequences for our health, the health of our children or the health of our planet.

We need science, but we need a God-guided science. If you agree, speak out and express your concerns. On a personal level take full responsibility for your health. Seek out local farm grown food (preferably organic) that is grown as God intended the plant to be. Seek out meat that was raised humanely on small regenerative farms, eating what they were created to eat and roaming the pastures in sunshine. Avoid CAFO meat. Yes that’s mostly grocery store meat. You cannot have health or healing without nourishing food.

A CAFO stands for Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation. It refers to a large-scale agricultural facility where an immense number of animals such as cows, pigs, chickens or turkeys are confined in a small area for the purpose of raising them for meat, dairy, or egg production. These operations are characterized by high animal density and intensive feeding practices. They walk around in their own poop, fed things that they were not meant to eat and never see the sunshine. If they die, they get trampled and sometimes eaten by their own flock or herd. This is not only unhealthy for the animals, but for us as consumers.

Learn how your body works[1] [2] and what it needs to be well. [3] It is much easier to heal and be healthy when you understand how each organ and cell is intended to function and how it interrelates with all the other organs and cells in the body. Ask God to lead you to health care professionals (both medical and natural/alternative) who will be willing to consider both God-provided and wise man-made solutions to your health problems.

My thanks to Dr. Anne Buchanan for the inspiration for this blogpost. Dr. Buchanan has a Ph.D. in Natural Health, is a Certified Nutritional Consultant, and an ordained minister and author of the book “Healing in His Wings”. I will rewrite a prayer she penned:

“Creator God, I declare that You and only You are the Great Creator. It is You who have made me and You alone. Help me always to seek Your advice as I choose my food and as I make decisions on treatments offered by science. I know that You want me to be well and that You will direct my path so that I can make the choices that are best for my health and for your glory. In the name of Jesus, Amen.”

It can be overwhelming to navigate the journey to healthier eating. It certainly was and still is sometimes for me. There are resources and simple tips on the blogpost “Overfed but Undernourished”.

I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 John 1:2
