If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
God forgives and forgets the sins we confess to him. He promises that when we turn to him, “I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” (Jeremiah 31:34) Also, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he [God] removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)
Forgiveness = Release from bondage or imprisonment, liberty
There were many instances in the Old Testament of God’s anger when His people, the Israelites, would complain, disobey, and worship idols and false gods. But the amazing thing is how quickly God completely forgave them—He restored all of His benefits to them as soon as they turned back to Him.
God’s anger was removed from us through the sacrificial death of Jesus (see Romans 5:9), so when we come to Him humbly, He freely gives us His grace (see 1 Peter 5:5). God understands your weaknesses, and He’s ready and willing to forgive your sins. He knows that all of us succumb to temptations and wrong behavior at times, and He’s also a compassionate, loving Father who has provided for our forgiveness in Christ. All we need to do is ask for it, receive it, and move forward knowing we’re made right with Him. Click HERE to learn more about the journey to peace that I and many others have experienced.
God knew that we could never get to a point where we did everything right, but we can be free to accept and walk in His forgiveness today.
